Chiropractic Care

At Wolfe Chiropractic, we provide care that is focused on your unique needs and that of your family. We will take the time to listen to what you want and expect from seeing us. We know many patients come to see us for the first time not knowing a great deal about chiropractic. Don’t worry, we know this and will work to address any and all questions you might have about care. Frankly, we love the challenge of helping you solve whatever you are coming to see us about.

What is Chiropractic Care?

Well, Chiropractic is one of the largest regulated, primary-contact health care professions in Canada. It is non-invasive, safe and gentle hands-on healthcare that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. We use a manual approach to treatment, while providing a diagnosis and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.

You will find we may use a combination of treatments centred on your specific needs. We start by taking a complete history and examination (takes about an hour) then we will work with you to develop a plan of care, treatment and usually rehabilitative exercise, and other adjunct therapies, and often provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

The Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a primary health care option for many conditions, such as back, shoulder, neck and lower back pain. It can also be effective at symptom relief for patients with chronic conditions, and may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with other conditions.

Sports injury

We have a long history of treating sports injuries and teams. Dr Wolfe graduated from McMaster University in the Bachelor of Physical Education Program and over the years has done many post graduate courses in the management of injuries, taping protocols, rehabilitation and sport specific injury management. Spinal Decompression Therapy

In our office we use Spinal decompression therapy and spinal traction also known as non-surgical spinal decompression to relieve pain caused by bulging or herniated discs. It can also be used for the pain management and treatment of many causes of sciatica. The table works to stretch the spine, using spinal decompression , in order to create negative pressure and space within the disc leading to pain relief. In our office we use the Hill Anatomotor and Hill AFT Automatic Flexion Table.

Seniors

Here at our clinic we recognize North Bay and Ontario have an aging population. We know that active living is an important part of healthy aging. Even a moderate physical activity can help to improve balance, endurance and bone strength. Chiropractors can play a very important part in maintaining the health and independence seniors all want. Keeping moving and enjoying normal everyday activities with little to no pain creates a happier and more fulfilling older age experience. We have the skills, experience and specialized equipment to allow us to help manage pain, increase motion, help manage arthritis and joint degeneration, increase balance and reduce the risk of falls. Most important of all we will take our time to offer care that recognizes your current state of health and work to reach your goals. Chiropractic care for seniors is gentle and effective. We have many methods available to us that do not even depend on manipulation so call us and discuss how we can help.

Pediatrics

Dr Wolfe has cared for children and infants for the entirety of his career starting in 1985. Simply said, children of all ages can be affected by musculoskeletal problems. Falls, collisions, accidents are all part of a normal childhood and we see kids for sprains and strains regularly. Chiropractic care for your children is safe, effective and simple. Kids generally require few treatments and are ready for more adventures. In the case of infants we typically see them symptoms of colic and often torticollis. In all cases if the child should be seen by their family doctor or a pediatric specialist we will make the appropriate referral.

Boot Camp Programs

In our clinic we use the Boot Camp programs developed by Dr. Carlo Ammendolia at Toronto’s Mount Sinai hospital. Dr Wolfe was one of the first chiropractors in Ontario to be trained to offer the Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Boot Camp Program to patients. Boot Camp Programs are 6-week self-management training programs. We follow the protocols developed by Dr. Ammendolia and his team and provide education, specific exercises, postural instruction and self-management strategies.

We are able to offer Boot Camp programs for:

Spinal Stenosis

For many years now Dr Wolfe has been offering a program developed by Dr. Carlo Ammendolia at Toronto’s Mount Sinai hospital. Dr. Ammendolia is a world-renown researcher in the non- surgical treatment of degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. This program of prescribed physical activity and specialized physical mobilizations enables our graduates to significantly increase their ability to walk pain-free. It has proven to be an effective, no surgical way to deal with a debilitating condition that affects Canada’s aging population in increasing numbers. It is usually caused by progressive degenerative osteoarthritis in the lumbar spine. Like all the Boot Camp programs offered in our clinic this is a specific 6 week program with exercise and management strategies to help patients progress and reduce or eliminate their symptoms without surgery or medication.
